About Our Troop
Our History
We are located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Chartered in 1951 to University United Methodist Church, Troop 50 is part of the Istrouma Area Council. Our troop has a long tradition of providing the full Scouting experience to our members. Regular troop meetings, community service projects, and outdoor programs offer our Scouts every opportunity to advance at their own pace.
Leadership is at the core of scouting. We empower the Scouts to lead patrols and the Troop, so they are able to learn by doing. The adult leaders are there to provide direction, coaching, and support. Parental involvement is critical to the success of our mission, and parents are expected to become involved. A wide variety of leadership and volunteer positions are open to all adults. Your time and commitment to invest in your scouts will allow troop members to learn to lead.

Scoutmaster Welcome
Welcome to Troop 50
As Scoutmaster, it's my honor to welcome both our new Scouts and their families to an adventure filled with growth, friendship, and exploring. In our troop, we live by the Scout Oath and Scout Law — the guiding principles that shape us into trustworthy, loyal, and kind leaders in our community.
Through camping trips, service projects, and other activities, our Scouts learn valuable life skills and build memories that last a lifetime. Safety is always our top priority, ensuring every Scout can have fun and learn in the outdoors. Together, with the help of our Assistant Scout Masters and parents, we develop young men and instill competence based on skills learned and character based on the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
I am confident your Scout will be well suited for life.

Assistant SPL
Supports the SPL in coordinating troop programs and stepping in as needed.
Patrol Leaders & Assistants
Senior Scouts who lead each patrol of 8–12 members and report to the SPL.
Scoutmaster & Assistants
